And this is the first ever drawing I made with kohl. I really like kohl, though this took me like 12 ridiculous hours to make. It’s an Australian crested dove because Australia has the most beautiful doves! Ref. (this is a beyond beautiful photo, btw)

Further adventures of the diamonds. When they are locked up, they like to subtly hint that they would much prefer it to be roaming free - by sitting in the front corner of the cage, pressed right up against the net. In the bottom picture, they are vacuuming my plate after I’ve eaten a bun.

How about Mirkwood? It is so hauntingly beautiful - spiderwebs and silvery laughter, squirrels and lanterns and the broad, safe road that you have to unconditionally follow if you want to get through it alive - so you miss both the terrifying, vast blackness of the immense forest (who knows what lives in the really dark and remote places?) and the overwordly wonders of the halls of the Elvish king. In a way it is like a metaphor for life itself. Imagine all the beauty in this black place - the enormous butterflies at the top of the trees, the white deer, and the elves that are as happy and content in this place as in any other. I just love the fact that they are staying even though the forest itself has gone through such a change. Mirkwood is my favourite place, I used to spend a better part of my childhood dreaming of going there. I really want to be a person who can walk the forest and marvel at its beauty without getting lost in the dark.

The top are the prettiest feathers, bottom left are red ones from the wing that are quite disheveled but that I felt sorry for, bottom right is the feathers’ crib. :)

Annnd, here they are together in their sleeping corner - he likes to sleep all fluffed up in a ball while she mostly just fluffs out the feathers on her belly, while her wings her stuck on him. Before this, for six months, she has refused to sit close to him, always insisting on at least 5-10 cm of space between them, but then two weeks ago I came home to them sleeping like this and I thought I would die of the sweetness.

This is Drypteis (in my bed, of course), the female little diamond. She is quite flighty since she lived in a different environment before I got her as a companion for Achilles, and about 2 years old. She also has a very explosive way of flying, which makes her husband’s delicate fluttering seem very unimpressive. She also flew into a window when her previous owner tried to catch her with a net, and although her injury closed up immediately, she has a little bald patch right over her beak. She isn’t really much frightened any more (it has been little over six months since I got her), but sadly you can’t touch her.

She is a very sweet girl, and not at all impressed with Achilles’ rather awkward attempts to woo her, but recently they have become glued to each others’ sides, so I take that as a good sign.

I find it incredibly disrespectful to Tolkien, his characters, and especially his beliefs when people make pornographic slash fictions and generally lewd creations out of Tolkien’s work. Tolkien was a conservative, religious man with a beautiful creation and people like to take that wondrous work and alter it dramatically to suit their own needs. I don’t believe Tolkien would approve of graphic pornographic fan fictions being written about the relationships between his characters. The Lord of the Rings community has the right to be creative with Tolkien’s characters, but I think we have to at least keep in mind Tolkien’s wishes for the treatment and usage of his characters just out of respect for his memory.

I agree. Tolkien created this world and therefore it is his, and we should respect that, and respect his vision. Although I don’t completely like the sound of “conservative, religious”, I dislike even more people making horrifically rude comments about Tolkien being dead now as an excuse to misuse his creation. (Of course, most fan-work is made with love and thought, and this is not the fan-work referred to.) Yes, the man - the author - is gone from this world now, and the least we can do is treasure his memory. What has the world come to when the living mock the memory of the dead?
